Storyline Online The Best Read Alouds for Upper Elementary Classrooms

Today I wanted to share this AWESOME website with you. It’s called Storyline Online. They have a huge collection of books that are read aloud by celebrities. The videos are super high quality and the readers are engaging. Even your big kids will love these!

Here are some of my favourites!

1) Enemy Pie

This is one of my all time favourite read alouds to address bulling/ kindness in the classroom.

2) I Need My Monster

I love using this book in October for fun descriptive writing practice. I have kiddos design their own monsters after reading this book. Then they work to use figurative language and descriptive vocabulary to describe their monsters. PLUS, my one day Monster Themed Emergency Sub Plans use this book as the mentor text!

3) Clark the Shark

Guys… this is the perfect book if you have a student struggling with self control! Enough Said!

4) Harry the Dirty Dog

I love this one so much that I have an entire grammar lesson that uses it as a mentor text! You can check it out here.

5) Rent Party Jazz

This is a beautiful story set in the 1930s. I love using it as a read aloud while I have book clubs studying the novel Bud Not Buddy. It compliments the novel very nicely. This would also be a great read aloud to use when studying problem/solution.
I hope that you checkout the FREE website Storyline Online!
