Are you on the hunt for some fun, online French language games that your elementary students can play? I have collected some fun ones for you to try!
Online French Language Games – FrenchGames.net
https://www.french-games.net/frenchgames is a great website for French language games! Students can choose from a variety of simple computer games and they can even select the vocabulary set to play with. There are a variety of options such as French numbers, family members and body parts! These online games pair great with my Alberta Grade 5 French as a Second Language Bundle! The variety of games and vocabulary sets is a simple way to incorporate more voice and choice into your French as a Second Language classroom.
Online French Language Games – Digital Dialects
https://www.digitaldialects.com/French.htm is filled with simple games for beginning French learners. These basic games come with audio and non audio versions. I definetly prefer the audio games as I strongly believe that our elementary second language learners need to hear French as much as possible. However, be sure to have students wear headphones so that you don’t go insane from the noise!
The Fruits and Vegetables game would be great for students studying healthy eating in French. There are tons of games on this site that correspond nicely with my Alberta Grade 6 French as a Second Language Bundle! Looking for more ideas for teaching your French Healthy Eating unit? Online French Language Games – Duolingo
https://www.duolingo.com/ has been a longtime favourite of mine. Students can log in with their Google accounts, which is a huge bonus! After all, I can’t possibly be the only teacher whose elementary students are constantly forgetting their passwords!
The great thing about Duolingo is that it is essentially a second language tutor. Students progress through a variety of activities to further develop their French language skills.
So there you have it, my three favourite free online French games for elementary students!
